You can’t love Trump the way MAGA has without also secretly hating him, like an authoritarian father. As the spell breaks, the taboo-hatred will gush. I don’t think it will be directed at him alone, but at all the marginalized they now believe he was always too corrupt to smash.
If we thought MAGA was vengeful under him, we haven’t seen anything like the vengeance provoked by his disgrace. He embodied their aspirations to virility, ruthlessness, and proving that white, antisemitic patriarchy will always win. Many may now have to do what he couldn’t.
Everything MAGA secretly despises about him is now fair game. It could start with homophobic and body-fascism attacks on his masculinity: He makes Red State boomers dance to YMCA and do the double jerk-off dance. He slathers on makeup, never works out, cheats at golf, is a senile farting germaphobe, gobbles KFC and wears a foley, chickens out of every negotiation, decorates the Oval Office like he’s Liberace, and sells Bibles branded with hi…
